Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting surgeons during operations, ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are sterile and readily available. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Also the candidate will play an important role in inventory management. Works closely with purchasing, receiving, and Materials Management. Supply inventory updated, ordered, and maintained.
Two (2) years as lead in a warehouse (with experience in a healthcare setting preferred.) or industrial warehouse, sterile processing distribution and/or inventory control required. Prior supervisory experience required. Possess mathematical ability for unit of measure conversions, receiving counts and verification. Speak and read English for training purposes and for communication with patients and co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the accurate control of Sterile Processing (SPD) inventory. Ensure SPD inventory is maintained effectively in order to replenish OR/L&D or other areas utilizing surgery materials or supplies. Follows established procedures to account for materials/supplies received and distributed to JHA departments. Maintains Surgical Processing Department area security to prevent loss and damage to both incoming and outgoing materials/supplies.
Skills
- Proficient in medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique to prevent infection.
- Experience with sterile processing methods for surgical instruments.
- Understanding of human physiology to assist effectively during surgeries.
- Ability to manage inventory efficiently, ensuring availability of supplies.
- Solid knowledge of human anatomy as it relates to surgical practices.
