Instructional Designer

JMG is looking to hire two new Instructional Designers starting in January 2025. Instructional Designers play a pivotal role in designing, building, and structuring content for JMG's Learning Management System (LMS). Working alongside JMG’s other Instructional Designers, the position involves collaboration with JMG Specialists, curriculum consultants, community partners, and other stakeholders to create engaging and effective learning resources. The successful candidate will contribute to developing credit and credential pathways for students, ensuring alignment with JMG's educational objectives and with state and national standards. In addition to content development, the Instructional Designer will serve as a subject matter expert on curriculum implementation, guiding both classroom-based and ELO delivery methods to internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities and Duties Content Design and Development: • Create and design instructional materials, multimedia elements, and assessments for JMG's Learning Management System. • Collaborate with JMG staff, curriculum consultants, and community partners to incorporate diverse perspectives and expertise into content development. Curriculum Implementation: • Serve as a subject matter expert on curriculum implementation, providing guidance on both classroom-based and ELO delivery methods. • Stay informed about best practices in instructional design, pedagogical practices, and educational technology to enhance curriculum effectiveness. Collaboration and Partnership: • Work closely with the Instructional Design team, curriculum consultants, and community partners to develop content resources that align with industry standards and educational requirements. • Collaborate with JMG staff, network members, and external ELO partners to ensure seamless curriculum access and implementation. Quality Assurance: • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of existing content to ensure quality, relevance, and alignment with learning objectives and standards. • Implement feedback loops to continuously improve content based on user experiences and outcomes. Specific Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field. Current teaching certification preferred. • Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and content creation. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and educational technologies. • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • An interest in/passion for Maine Education • A high level of accountability and energized by finding creative solutions to new situations • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Experience with computer-based design and utilization of design solutions such as Canva. • Experience in creating highly engaging digital content for various audiences. The start date for this position is January 2025. Compensation for these positions is $55,000. This position starts with 15 days of vacation time, 15 days of sick time, plus one additional week of COVID-19 time if needed. This role will also have an additional week of vacation at Christmas and an additional week of vacation the week of the Fourth of July holiday.
