Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
Starting Pay: $22
Shift(s): 6 am - 2:30 pm Monday - Friday
The Large Forklift Operator will transport materials, supplies, and finished products to designated locations utilizing a diesel forklift with a load capacity of 36,000 lbs (18 tons) in an outdoor yard environment year-round.
Requirements & Skills:
- Prolonged periods sitting in the forklift.
- Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds at a time.
- Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, when handling box cutters or similar tools.
- Strong eye/hand coordination.
- Will be exposed to outside elements throughout the changing seasons.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operating all equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating manual
- Reading and understanding forklift load charts
- Correctly calculating load weights
- Identifying steel bar and pipe to be transported based on information tags and/or stencils
- Transporting, moving and stacking steel bar and pipe with a forklift
- Loading and unloading steel bar and pipe from trucks, tractor-trailers and/or railroad cars
- Transporting, moving and stacking pallets and steel 55 gallon drums with a forklift
- Monitoring forklift engine fluid levels on a daily basis (i.e. motor oil, hydraulic fluid)
- Conducting daily equipment inspections and reporting equipment failures to the supervisor
- Assisting with equipment maintenance and repairs
- Accurately completing work orders and shipping documentation (verbal and written)
- Keep production lines supplied with empty containers and packaging materials as needed
- Handling wood block materials (saddles)
- General housekeeping duties in the warehouse and/or production areas to maintain a safe and clean work area
- Other duties as assigned
