What are the responsibilities and job description for the OSP Inspector - Traveling Position position at John Staurulakis (JSI)?
We are now seeking several talented telecom Outside-Plant (OSP) Inspectors/Locators to support our strategic expansion. These positions will start in the Hope, AR area and extend toward Saint Little Rock, AR. Once completed, we will have additional projects located across the US and will support a client’s push to install 20,000 feet of fiber across the continental US.
This position is key to providing expert supervision of construction crews and cable/Hand-hole locations. Your job is to ensure construction contractors are placing fiber optic cable according to the customer’s requests (buried, underground, aerial) and engineering work prints (staking sheets), as well as providing daily and weekly updates and as-builts for the project. Overtime will be required.

Key Responsibilities
The essential functions of an OSP Inspector/Locator will include the following:
- Working on-site with the crews daily (in varied weather conditions).
- Ensure proper placement of fiber, take sequential numbers from cable, locate handholes using a client-familiar locator, and ensure handholes are installed correctly and in the desired locations.
- Assist in establishing schedules, coordinating, monitoring workflow, and tracking cost expenditures.
- Preparing reports and documents and maintaining project records.
- Prepare asbuilts daily, showing sequential numbers, hand hole locations, marking splice points, and including GPS coordinates per hand hole.
- Provide quality control to ensure adherence to construction/engineering standards/specifications.
- Interacting with landowners, permit agencies, and other company departments.
Requirements
- Must be willing to travel.
- You must have your own vehicle. Mileage will be paid according to the Federal Standards.
- Experience in telecommunications inspection is required, along with a resume.
- Must be able to read work prints (staking sheets).
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel and possess basic computer skills.
- Previous work in Telecom Inspection is required.
- Must be capable of performing repetitive physical motions that include bending, standing, climbing, and walking on uneven terrain (in varied weather conditions).
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
- High school diploma or GED.
