Basic Function
Airvac is the global leader in the Vacuum Technology System industry. The primary function of our Area Manager is to identify and develop business opportunities with new and existing customers. They work with engineering firms, developers, contractors, and municipalities to promote growth of Airvac technology. They display strong communication and responsiveness along with a team approach to grow sales revenue in multiple vacuum technology markets. They allocate approximately 60% of their time to travel, 30% to market research, and 10% to professional development.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Proactively develops new business opportunities, fostering strong, long-term relationships with existing and potential clients throughout and after the sales cycle.
- Prepares and presents vacuum technology product(s) to customers and at events such as conferences, seminars, webinars, etc.
- Responds to technical inquiries from consulting engineers and industry and regulatory personnel.
- Maintains regular contacts with outdoor/industrial/sanitary consulting engineers, city and county sanitary engineers, municipal contractors, and regulatory agency personnel.
- Attends industry trade shows and generally assist in the promotion of Airvac products and technology.
- Makes sales calls (in person, via phone or email, via webinar) to promote Airvac products.
- Solicits budget estimate requests (preliminary layout and cost estimate) from prospective customers.
- Arranges for and accompanies prospective customers to visit the manufacturing facility and/or an existing AIRVAC system.
- Works closely with Manufacturer’s Reps as a partner and supporter to achieve growth through sales calls, presentations, webinars, tradeshows, etc.
- Works closely with Project Engineering to ensure a smooth transition from the sales phase to the design phase.
- Mentors and trains Technical Sales Representatives.
- Performs various other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, or Engineering or 10 years relevant experience in technical or business-to-business sales.
- Experience in municipal and industrial water or wastewater business preferred.
- Experience with a consulting engineering firm and familiarity with Airvac products is preferred.
- Self-motivated with a proven track record in sales.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with willingness to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively write and/or present information professionally, and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to work as a team in a collaborative environment as well as individually.
- Software proficiency to include Windows and Microsoft Office. Salesforce experience preferred.
