The Jurgensen Companies is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Accountant.
You will be working within the Construction Accounting team, which is responsible for construction accounting and managing the document flow for construction contract administration. This group also provides guidance to our affiliate construction companies.
You will be working at our new state of the art corporate office located in Sharonville, Ohio (Cincinnati). Responsibilities:
- Review and prepare legal agreements (contracts and sub-contracts) for construction projects and develop accounting processes and procedures that comply with GAAP and meet the terms of the agreements.
- Participate in development of internal controls and financial reporting over job costing for construction projects
- Perform monthly liquid and fuel adjustment calculation for department of transportation projects for OH, KY, and IN states
- Ensure compliance with ODOT, KYTC, and INDOT on state funded projects
- Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely posting and classification of detailed transactions for various projects within job costing module for percentage completion accounting in accordance with GAAP.
- Communicate in clear and effective manner while fostering collaborative relationships with team the members, managers, construction teams, external partners, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders within the Company.
- Responsible for the project set-up activities to ensure compliance with company policies for job set-up documentation and compliance with various municipalities and states
- Oversee maintenance of invoices, lien waivers and other documentation for multiple projects. Oversee or perform filing, check cutting and check hold procedures.
- Utilize spreadsheet experience in the development and maintenance of various financial reports.
- Review cost reports and post corrections during monthly closing working closely with construction project management team
- Prepare construction companies monthly reporting package for manager review and distribution to the executive teams
- Assist manager with third party auditors during annual audit.
- Assist on special projects and ad-hoc reporting to meet department goals.
- Support construction teams with all financial management activities such as coding, contract management, and cost reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4 years accounting experience in a staff role including general ledger and audit experience; Job cost experience and knowledge of construction industry standards preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced level Excel skills required. Prior experience using an accounting software package, preferably Workday, Procore, and JD Edwards or similar. Proven ability to use technology to improve efficiencies.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to work cooperatively and collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and at all organizational levels.
