The Director of Operations for Kamaka Air has specific roles, responsibilities, and priorities tailored to the unique operational requirements and regulatory framework of the air freight industry.

1.    Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all regulations set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Part 135 operations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FAA regulations, guidelines, and directives relevant to air freight operations.
• Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and standards.

2.    Flight Operations Management:

• Supervise and coordinate flight operations activities, including flight planning, scheduling, and dispatch.
• Must hold an airline transport pilot certificate.
• Must have at least 3 years supervisory experience within the last 6 years
• Monitor flight crew scheduling, duty times, and rest requirements to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.
• Oversee aircraft routing, fuel planning, and load distribution to optimize operational efficiency and safety.

3.    Safety Management:

• Implement a safety management system (SMS) to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to maintain a safe operating environment.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

4.    Quality Assurance and Compliance Audits:

• Develop and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure operational excellence and compliance with industry standards.
• Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate external audits and inspections by regulatory authorities or third-party auditors and address any findings or deficiencies identified.

5.    Fleet Maintenance and Airworthiness:

• Oversee aircraft maintenance activities, including scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with FAA airworthiness directives (ADs) and manufacturer's maintenance requirements.
• Monitor aircraft reliability, maintenance performance, and component reliability to minimize unscheduled maintenance and maximize fleet availability.

6.    Training and Development:

• Develop and implement training programs for flight crew, ground staff, and operational personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Provide recurrent training on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and operational policies.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the operations team.

7.    Customer Service and Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate with customer service teams to ensure timely and accurate communication with clients regarding shipment status, delays, and other operational matters.
• Address customer inquiries, complaints, and service issues promptly and effectively.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, regulatory authorities, and industry associations.

8.    Operational Efficiency and Cost Management:

• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource utilization.
• Analyze operational performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization.
• Implement process improvements, automation solutions, and technology enhancements to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

In prioritizing these responsibilities, the Director of Operations must ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of air freight operations while delivering high-quality service to customers.
