How You’ll Make An Impact
As KCRW’s Data Analyst, you will transform complex data into clear, actionable insights that fuel growth and innovation. You’ll create intuitive dashboards, automate reporting workflows, and collaborate with teams across content, marketing, and membership to optimize performance on radio, podcasts, newsletters, and social platforms. You’ll work closely with the Director of Data to ensure our analytics priorities align with KCRW’s strategic goals and operational benchmarks. Your hands-on data work will inform strategic decisions led by the Director of Data, helping KCRW grow its audience and deepen its community impact.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Visualization & Reporting
Gather, clean, and organize large-scale data from diverse sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that track key performance metrics.
Partner with the Director of Data to prepare and refine monthly dashboards for senior management, ensuring data accuracy and actionable insights.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define benchmarks and measure progress toward organizational goals.
Translate complex data sets into clear, actionable insights to support decision-making across departments.
Process Automation & Efficiency
Identify opportunities to automate reporting and analytics workflows to reduce manual tasks.
Implement data tools and software to improve internal reporting capabilities.
Work closely with the Director of Data to scale analytics solutions across the organization.
Content Performance
Evaluate the effectiveness of KCRW’s content across radio, podcasts, newsletters, digital, and social channels.
Provide data-backed recommendations to programming, editorial, and marketing teams to optimize content strategies.
Track KPIs such as reach, engagement, and retention to measure storytelling impact.
Monitor platform performance (e.g., YouTube, streaming, social media, podcasts, app) and automate tracking for real-time decision-making.
Audience Analytics
Analyze audience behavior across broadcast, digital, and membership platforms to identify trends and engagement opportunities.
Develop strategies for expanding KCRW’s presence on social media, streaming services, and emerging technologies.
Provide insights into audience demographics, retention rates, and conversion funnels to drive audience growth.
Collaborate with Membership and Development teams to support acquisition and retention through data-driven insights.
Assess event performance (attendance, engagement, conversion) to guide future initiatives.
Work with KCRW’s Salesforce Admin to understand member trends and enhance engagement efforts.
Cross-Functional Reporting & Insights
Provide analytical support to social media, content, marketing, sponsorship, and membership teams - ensuring they have data-driven insights to optimize engagement, and reporting findings back to the Director of Data.
Support leadership by preparing presentations on performance trends, operational metrics, and strategic recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine user journeys and increase engagement with KCRW content and membership programs.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
1–2 years of experience in a data analyst role, ideally within media, entertainment, or related industries.
Hands-on expertise with data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R), including the ability to build and maintain complex data pipelines or analyses.
Strong skills with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
Ability to interpret business, operational, and audience data to guide strategic decisions.
Familiarity with social media and streaming platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc.).
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, with a talent for presenting data-driven insights effectively.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an evolving environment.
A passion for Los Angeles culture and KCRW’s mission.
Preferred Skills
Experience with real-time digital analytics and algorithm-driven insights.
Experience in process automation and workflow optimization.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Familiarity with projection mapping and predictive analytics.
Knowledge of CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and broadcast analytics (e.g., Nielsen metrics).
Compensation & Benefits :
Salary Range : $75,000 - $85,000
Eligible for overtime and premium working holiday pay rate
