Position Summary:
Kent County Parks & Recreation is seeking passionate and enthusiastic Group Fitness Instructors to lead dynamic fitness classes, including Zumba, Yoga, Tai Chi, Body Pump, and more, at the Kent County Community Center. This position offers flexible scheduling with a focus on weekday daytime classes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in group fitness instruction, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate participants of varying skill levels in a safe and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct group fitness classes tailored to a diverse range of participants.
- Provide modifications and progressions to accommodate all fitness levels and abilities.
- Ensure participant safety by monitoring proper form and technique during classes.
- Set up and clean up fitness equipment before and after classes.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and energetic class environment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fitness trends and best practices.
- Adhere to Kent County Parks & Recreation policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Certification in one or more fitness specialties (e.g., Zumba, Yoga, Tai Chi, Body Pump, or other recognized group fitness formats). Or demonstrated experience.
- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
- Previous experience leading group fitness classes is preferred.
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to create and sustain a positive, energetic, and inclusive atmosphere.
Schedule:
- Flexible hours with a primary focus on weekday daytime availability.
- Opportunity to lead additional classes or workshops based on demand.
Physical & Environmental Conditions:
- Physical demands/expectations may include, the occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds,
light cleaning, and actively engaging in indoor/outdoor recreational activities with participants.
