Description
Kern Regional Center is one of 21 private, non-profit regional centers contracted by the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate community-based services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Kern Regional Center services over 10,000 individuals in Kern, Inyo and Mono Counties. Our counties cover approximately 22,000 square miles with a population of over 945,000 people.
The Program Manager/Cultural Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing Kern Regional Center’s (KRC) plans to promote equitable access to services and to reduce disparities in services and supports in our diverse community. This position will provide leadership to ensure KRC’s services and supports are provided in ways which are culturally and linguistically inclusive for the communities we serve. As the central point of contact for diversity and equity efforts.
Requirements
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: social work, psychology or closely related field from an accredited university with four years of increasingly responsible experience preferably in programs serving the developmentally disabled to ensure a thorough understanding and knowledge of the developmental model. (Or any combination of education and experience may be considered.)
- Bilingual language fluency (Spanish/English) highly desirable has two years of administrative assistant experience.
- is detailed-oriented and highly organized.
- has strong overall computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, as well as industry specific.
- has strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Provide timely and responsive customer service, communicating with others respectfully and effectively in person, on the phone, by email or in writing.
- must have reliable transportation.
