An administrative assistant-legal secretary may perform many varied tasks in a small office. An outline of various job functions and performance expectations includes the following:
Administrative Assistant- Legal Secretary
Be a self-starter and be able to organize one's work and time
Find tasks and initiate projects if work not assigned
Be able to type 50 words or more per minute
File papers, including library filings
Keep reception area, conference and kitchen areas clean and orderly
Make bank deposits
Go to post office
Open and sort mail
Deliver papers
Make purchases
Keep desk cleared and cleaned if on break or if gone for the evening
Empty waste baskets and take care of plants
Perform some janitorial functions such as cleaning and vacuuming
when needed and/or when other work is completed
