KIPP Atlanta Schools is part of the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) national network of free, open enrollment, college preparatory schools dedicated to ensuring that every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. Job Summary
The Managing Director of Talent leads the talent acquisition and talent development strategy for KIPP Atlanta Schools. The Managing Director of Talent leads talent strategy and operations, managing recruitment, performance management, and human resources functions, to ensure that KIPP Atlanta Schools team members are excellent, satisfied, diverse, and retained. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Managing Director of Talent will manage and lead the Human Resources Team and the Recruitment Team and will work closely with the Chief People Officer and the Regional Leadership Team to identify and execute strategic priorities in the talent space. The Managing Director of talent is accountable for ensuring that schools are 100% hired and that a strong pipeline of ready leaders exist across the organization.

- Design, set, direct, and execute the talent acquisition and talent development strategy at KIPP Atlanta Schools leading strategic planning and goal setting, gauging capacity, and progress monitoring for the work streams of staff recruitment and staff development
- Develop benchmarks for success and track and maintain comprehensive data as a source for developing and improving upon existing systems and structures supporting staff recruitment and leadership development
- Proactively identify cross-functional areas of organizational improvement impacting talent acquisition and talent development to ensure that KIPP Atlanta Schools has a pool of high-quality candidates and is retaining and developing staff
- Serve as a business partner to senior leaders on the most complex personnel issues, engaging legal counsel when appropriate and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal employment and education law Support the Director of HR in mapping a long-term strategy to stabilize and enhance the efficacy and efficiency of HR and developing HR policy. Ensure network compliance with federal and local regulations, as well as KIPP Atlanta Schools’ policies and procedures
- Support the Director of Recruitment to set the vision and strategy to attract and hire top talent at KIPP Atlanta Schools; build a best-in-class talent strategy that increases the quality and diversity the candidate pool through excellent selection processes and strategic outreach initiatives In consultation with COO, manage adherence to organizational compensation approach

- Manage and build capacity in direct reports through comprehensive development including the establishment of performance goals, regular check-ins, observations, timely feedback and professional development opportunities
- Hold teams accountable to performance goals and metrics identified through organizational planning and as part of their day-to-day duties
- Regularly lead team meetings to ensure the effective cascade of communication, identifying areas of challenge and coordinating necessary changes in response to organizational challenges
- Support the implementation and management of the organization’s talent acquisition strategy and leadership development strategy, providing thought partnership, feedback and problem solving advice to functional leaders to ensure that schools are fully hired and that pipelines of emerging leaders exist
Additional Information
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation for this role is between $125,000 - $135,000. The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, and certifications. KIPP Atlanta Schools offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
- 19 days of Paid Time Off, in addition to identified holidays and regular school breaks including Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Mid-Winter Break and Spring Break.

Location & Work Conditions:
This position requires candidates to be based in Atlanta and regularly be in schools and able to attend in person meetings and events. Additional in person time may be necessary based upon organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or certificate in HR management preferred
- Minimum of 8 years professional work experience, ideally in a charter school or other K-12 education organization, consisting of at least 5 years of progressive human resources leadership and 3 or more years in a supervisory role.
- Highly knowledgeable about HR conventions and law
- Trained in conflict resolution and difficult conversations; experience in building strategies and approach to diversity, equity and inclusiveness
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills; ability to translate information understandably and concisely for teachers and leadership
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and implement solutions, an ability to manage both the big picture and the details, and a strong sense of judgment
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, multi-task, work in a fast-paced demanding environment, operate effectively with ambiguity, and willing to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships quickly
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with sensitive key decisions that impact multiple stakeholder groups across the organization
Salary : $125,000 - $135,000
