What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Specialist position at Kismet Recruiting Group?
Kismet client, Avalon Holdings Corporation, provides waste management services to industrial, commercial, municipal and governmental customers in selected northeastern and midwestern U.S. markets. Avalon Holdings Corporation also owns the Avalon Golf and Country Club, which operates a world-class country club and one of the premier resorts in the United States, The Grand Resort.
The ideal candidate will need to have a dedicated work ethic, be able to “look at the bigger picture”, work well under pressure, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate. The ability to multi-task is essential.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure correct payments are made in a timely manner while helping assist/manage cash flow needs
- Develop guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices
- Analyze expense reports and other invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment
- Verify payments before manager’s signature is added by reviewing checks and vouchers
- Reconcile accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records (e.g., subsidiary vendors’ ledger)
- Ensure proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits
- Ensure employer identification numbers or social security numbers have been collected from all vendors for the payables clerk to prepare and submit 1099s
- Ensure proper maintenance, filing, and scanning of source documents
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of accounts payable experience preferred
- Thorough understanding of accounts payable functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Great Plains accounting software and/or related Kerio software is a plus
