We have an exciting opportunity for a mid-level role as Field Applications Engineer 3 to join our Kontron Family! The Senior FAE supports the company with deep technical understanding and application of embedded computing markets and products. Vertical markets served: Primary market focus is for US Defense. But also required, on occasion, to support other markets such as Industrial, Medical, Transportation and Communication. Must have hands-on experience with board and system form factors commonly used in embedded and Defense applications, such as; VME, VPX, COM-Express, cPCI and related industry specifications such as SOSA, VITA, etc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports customer evaluations and issue resolution during the architectural "design-in" phase with the ultimate goal of ensuring that the customers end-product has best chance of successfully going into volume production.
- Troubleshoots, analyses and recommends Kontron products and application solutions and advises customers on all product related issues.
- Takes technical leadership role in identifying, qualifying and capturing technical "Design Wins" within assigned accounts.
- May also be involve in contributing to new Kontron product definitions, new technology initiatives and or market opportunities.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of current and upcoming Kontron products
- Provide onsite hands-on pre & post-sales technical support as needed.
- Review customer technical requirements and check them against multiple product options; compile technical compliance matrices so the best-fit product can be effectively presented
- Interface between customers and internal engineering teams to modify standard products when necessary
- When needed, integrate and test products before shipping to customers for evaluation.
- Provide pre-sales technical support throughout customer's evaluation & system development phase
- Get customer feedback regarding future product improvements, offerings, and technical requirement trends; relay these to the product portfolio team
Qualification
- Bachelor s Degree in technical field required (i.e., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 - 10 years hands-on technical design, support or sales experience with computer hardware and software, to include Defense market customers and products or equivalent.
- Knowledge of microprocessor-based embedded systems (x86 and ARM), digital and analog hardware and firmware, and embedded applications.
- Background and/or hands-on experience with embedded design methodologies and various PC software including but not limited to; Windows OS's, Linux, QNX and other real-time and industry leading operating systems.
- Problem-solving skills a must. Ability to make independent judgments
- Understands technical requirements and customer base of assigned verticals and have the ability to make sound technical recommendations
- Excellent communication, presentation and customer service skills.
- Ideal candidate will reside in the Central portion of the US, but this is negotiable.
- Travel approximately 40% - 60%.
