What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp - Trapeze Instructor position at Lake Greeley Camp?
Lake Greeley Camp is a Co-ed summer camp for children between ages of 6-15. We operate a traditional camp setting with numerous activities highlighting traditional camp activities as well as a varied schedule for all children who attend to find new activities to be involved with.
Located in Greeley, Pennsylvania. Pocono Mountains area.
Responsibilities
The camp’s Circus Arts Program is centered around the flying trapeze and aerial skills. Knowledge of these activities is necessary for the position. There are other activities such as juggling, diabolo, slacklining, and unicycling in which the applicant need not be proficient. While offered less frequently, these activities are part of the camp's Circus Arts Program and when they are scheduled, instruction must be provided.
The Circus Arts Director oversees these activities, provides daily instruction, and supervises the circus staff.
The Director must have experience providing instruction with a robust knowledge of safety. Prior experience managing an organized program is preferred but not necessary.
Applicants must possess good character, a great work ethic, and a desire to work with children and camp counselors to create and build an exception Circus program.
The primary responsibilities of the Circus Arts Director include:
- Leads, supervises and maintains the Circus Arts Program throughout the entire summer.
- Provides staff training and facilitates curriculum planning during staff orientation.
- Ensures equipment and elements are properly cared for, maintained, and repaired when needed.
- Develops lesson plans to focus on tricks, safety, skill development.
- Having the versatility to instruct children ages 6-15 at all skill levels.
- Supervising a staff team of 5-6 college-aged staff members who help in operation.
- Ensures that proper safety standards are being met at all times.
- Conducts daily equipment and facility checks including maintenance as needed.
- Maintain a neat, clean and orderly activity site.
- CPR/First Aid recommended, not necessary.
- Pass a background check and provide references.
- Lake Greeley Camp is a non-smoking and non-alcoholic camp. These items are not tolerated on camp grounds.
The Circus Arts Director is a member of our Leadership Team that in addition to running and supervising the equestrian activities, helps run our summer program, participates in evening activities and specials events, guides our staff and provides assistance where needed.
