Latham Marine has an immediate need for a Mechanical Assembler in Fort Lauderdale Florida. For over 40 years Latham Marine has been the leader in hydraulic steering systems for both high performance and pleasure boats. Responsibilities and Duties
- Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
- Handles and assembles parts using fixtures and tools.
- Learn and perform tasks assigned by management
- Follows all Latham safety procedures as per company policies and per the Facility Engineer/Safety Director
- You will follow detailed assembly instructions processes and procedures and comply with all guidelines and regulatory requirements
- You will manufacture product to high quality standards utilizing hand tools, fixtures and equipment
- Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
- Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
- Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
- Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Qualifications and Skills
- We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Good communication skills in English (both verbal & written).
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and / or work instructions.
- Must be able to lift and push up to 50 lbs.
- Experience using power tools
- Familiarity with machining processes
- Computer skills – Inventory Management software, Microsoft office
