Construction Estimator - LEO Construction

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team.

As an underground dry utility installation contractor, we specialize in the excavation and

installation of electrical/communication utilities and facility infrastructure. The ideal

candidate will have a strong background in estimating for sitework construction projects and

possess a keen eye for detail and accuracy. The Construction Estimator is responsible for

developing bids for various construction projects using the information obtained from a set of

contract documents. Attending pre-bid and pre-construction meetings. Preparing and

submitting pay requests, preparing any required submittal data on materials, and preparing

and submission of change orders. Tracking job progression. Investigating a project site to

determine if any site conditions might affect the pricing of the work.

Key Responsibilities:

 Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for underground

utility installation and critical facility infrastructure projects, including labor,

materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

 Project Analysis: Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to

understand scope and requirements.

 Bid Coordination: Coordinate bid preparation and submission, ensuring all necessary

information is included and deadlines are met.

 Vendor and Subcontractor Liaison: Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and

subcontractors, negotiating terms and ensuring competitive pricing.

 Cost Management: Track and manage project costs throughout the project lifecycle,

identifying cost-saving opportunities.

 Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and project-

related documentation.

 Collaboration: Work closely with construction managers, engineers, and other team

members to ensure estimates align with project goals and requirements.

Qualifications:

 Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a construction estimator, with a

focus on underground utility installations.

 Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or a related field is

preferred.

 Technical Skills: Proficient in estimating software and tools, with strong MS Excel

and MS Word skills. Knowledge of ProCore software is a plus. Capable of reading and

interpreting construction drawings. Ability to read and interpret project specifications.

 Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations

related to underground utility installations.

 Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong

attention to detail.

 Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to

present complex information clearly and effectively.

 Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong

relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
