Job Purpose
The Theatre Technician is responsible for the operation, oversight, and maintenance of all audio-visual, lighting, rigging and shop equipment in the center’s theatre, music studio, dance studio, maker space, and other technical spaces. Additionally, the Theatre Technician will work closely with the Director of Technical Services and other Liliʻuokalani Center (LC) and Liliʻuokalani Trust (LT) teammates including but not limited to the IT department, operations, artistic curation, and ʻOlino Pathways teams to ensure high quality productions and overall maintenance of these state-of-the-art spaces.
Essential Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and safeguard the technical assets of LC performance spaces and general technical elements, including lighting, sound, video, shop tools and visual display systems.
Maintains inventory and facilitates preventative maintenance on all equipment.
Oversee training and support on technical operations for teammates and youth as pragmatically appropriate
Prepares a variety of documents and reports (e.g. maintenance, budget, daily activity, daily program content, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
Provide program coverage as necessary
Create scenic, lighting, audio, and video designs for internal productions
Makes recommendations to Director, Technical Services regarding capital purchases of technical equipment
Other duties:
Participate in program planning, budget development, revision, and evaluation
Provides transportation for organization related business, such as driving staff, beneficiaries and/or families to assigned destinations
Participates in continuing education and training opportunities for professional development
Contributes to the Trust’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improves team and organization results
Leads other projects as assigned.
Delivers programs or services as needed.
Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to meet key deadlines. Able to travel to meet strategic needs.
Qualifications
BA in related field preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent required
Working knowledge of the following areas: audio recording and reinforcement (Avid, Pro Tools, Allen and Heath Digital Consoles, Martin Audio, and LʻAccoustics Audio), video production (Black Magic Control Systems and Broadcast Cameras), construction and set design, lighting design (ETC Dimming, Control and Instrumentation), stage rigging, stage and/or production management, clear understanding of professional standards and stage safety
At least three years of experience in youth work
Valid driver’s license, clean traffic abstract
TB clearance

Travel Requirements:

While travel may not always be a need, the ability to travel when required remains a crucial aspect of this position.
