We are seeking an assistant teacher for our 3-year-old and 4-year-old classroom. This role floats between the two rooms through the day assisting the lead teacher as needed. State assistance is available to cover the cost of childcare for anyone working in a licensed childcare center.

Job Description:
Little Sprouts Daycare is committed to providing quality education and care for children newborn through preschool. We strive to meet the needs of each child and family individually through a holistic approach, encouraging development intellectually, physically, and emotionally.
A preschool room teacher (3 and 4 year olds) works to create a calm and interactive environment for each child. Their primary goals are to help each child reach milestones in activities of daily living and prepare them for school. This age can be a very busy and stressful to provide care for. The ability to multitask and the willingness to ask for help when needed are essential skills. This position also involves significant amounts of bending, lifting, standing, walking, and requires the ability to get down to floor level. These children need to be interacted with constantly not just watched while they play. Expectations of a preschool room teacher include, but are not limited to, the following:
Be able to remain calm and patient with the children despite possible continued crying/tantrums.
Provide age appropriate discipline that aligns with the center discipline policy.
Adjust care provided to meet individual needs of each child.
Ensure supervision is provided while eating and drinking.
Assist children to be able to independently eat meals and practice table manners.
Provide for regular, supervised toileting opportunities.
Assist as required in the restroom encouraging increased independence.
Encourage rest as a way to recharge the body, provide comfort to help them relax during nap
Ensure children are provided a safe sleep environment as determined by state regulations.
Ensure toileting/diaper changes are completed per recommended best practice procedures.
Provide meaningful engagement activities and play for each child.
Teach the children how to play and encourage imagination and learning while playing with them
Complete daily curriculum such as carpet time and planned daily activities/lessons
Encourage activities that assist in helping with school rediness.
Encourage good hygienic practices regularly such as washing hands
Encourage age appropriate development both physically and mentally.
Monitor for delays in age appropriate growth and development.
Communicate with parents regarding concerns and needs.
Document daily in the Brightwheel app all required areas of documentation.
Maintain up to date records regarding each child and family preferences.
Maintain a clean environment within the classroom and daycare as a whole.
Complete tasks as assigned by the Center Director or House Staff.
Abide by state licensing standards and center policies for all cares provided.
All Little Sprouts teachers are part of a greater team outside of the main classrooms they care for children in. Each teacher is expected to be able to fill in at times for at least one other classroom and assist with house needs as indicated. Additionally, state and center required trainings are to be completed within the established training policy guidelines. A team mentality is essential to success within our center. Professional oral and written communication is expected when talking with peers, supervisors, children, and parents.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 42 per week
