Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including outpatient clinics, medical-surgical units, and teaching hospitals. The ideal candidate will have experience in geriatrics or emergency medicine and be committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they assist. This role is vital in ensuring that patients receive the care and attention they need during their recovery or daily activities.
The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10 am to 4 pm.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Monitor patient health by observing changes in condition and reporting any concerns to healthcare professionals.
- Help with mobility and transportation within the facility, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following hygiene protocols and infection control measures.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in accordance with facility policies.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to implement care plans effectively.
- Participate in training sessions related to patient care techniques and safety practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of outpatient care, clinic operations, or hospital medicine is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical-surgical procedures, Level II Trauma Center protocols, or pediatric intensive care units (PICU) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting and assisting patients as needed.
- Certification in CPR or First Aid is preferred but not mandatory at the time of hiring; training will be provided.
