Job Description
LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a Lead Engineer to support the Federal Aviation's UAS Services Program.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance in the development of requirements development and lead engineering projects.
- Support the investigation, analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, testing, and evaluation of Unmanned Aerial Systems solutions.
- Review and develop engineering and technical analysis reports, and other technical and safety documentation.
- Analyze, design, develop, implement, and test software related to engineering or functional requirements of NAS and associated support systems.
- Draft system/ project plans, justifications, guidelines, and controls.
- Provide and implement development/design changes to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
- Support FAA cybersecurity management activities involving measures to mitigate hazards or reduce risks to an acceptable level.
- Provide Verification and Mitigation measures against product design and implementation.
- Support and execute assessments of residual risk and any other related activities
Education
- Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field).
Qualifications
- 4-11 years
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
- Demonstrated experience with leading systems engineering team
- Demonstrated experience with communication and outreach to support executive leadership and lower-level teams
- Experience with implementing projects/programs, preferably in the NAS
- Must have an ability to adapt quickly with dynamic and often competing priorities
- Experience with project/program management to ensure deadlines and milestones are met
- Escalation experience, seeking resolution and relationship mitigation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suites (Power Point, Project, Word)
- Experience supporting Enterprise Architecture (EA) Product Development and Refinement
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with FAA stakeholder processes (e.g., Acquisition Management System (AMS process)
- Experience with FAA standards is preferred
- Experience with implementation and risk management is strongly preferred
- Experience with FAA AMS process and decision points, having the ability to review both technical and financial documentation to provide recommendations
Work Requirements:
- Work location: Washington, DC
- Work Hours: Onsite 1-2 days per month. Normal working hours

- Physical requirements:
- Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
- Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
- Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.
- Background check: Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Compensation (Pay Bands)
Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of LSTs total compensation package for employees. ** In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C."
