Our client Tampa General Hospital, seeks a visionary Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) to lead with strategic insight within their newly established TGH North division. As the inaugural leader in this pivotal role, the ACMO will be instrumental in driving strategic quality improvement initiatives, aligning physician efforts, and nurturing the growth of local medical leadership. Acting as the crucial bridge between medical staff and administration, the ACMO will ensure seamless communication and collaboration, upholding the highest standards of patient care.
Additionally, the ACMO will collaborate closely with Case Management and Utilization Management teams to optimize resource allocation and support the Market President in fostering strategic partnerships with local medical groups, all while embodying the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Comprehensive understanding of clinical best practices, evidence-based medicine, and emerging trends in healthcare delivery.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, with particular expertise.
- Quality Improvement Methodologies: Strong knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, including Lean Six Sigma, Plan- Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Experience leading quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, streamline processes, and reduce clinical variation.
- Healthcare Regulations and Accreditation Standards: Thorough understanding of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS), and compliance requirements. Ability to interpret and apply regulatory standards to ensure organizational compliance and mitigate risk.
- Utilization Management (UM) and Resource Optimization: Expertise in utilization management principles and techniques to optimize resource utilization while maintaining high-quality patient care standards.
- Ability to analyze utilization data, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to reduce unnecessary utilization and costs.
- Physician Leadership Development: Proven track record in developing and nurturing physician leadership talent through mentorship, coaching, and professional development programs. Ability to inspire and empower physicians to lead change, drive innovation, and foster a culture of clinical excellence.
- Peer Review and Credentialing Processes: In-depth knowledge of peer review processes, credentialing requirements, and medical staff governance structures. Experience overseeing peer review committees, ensuring fair and objective evaluation physician performance and conduct.
- Health Information Technology (HIT): Familiarity with health information technology systems, electronic health records (EHR), and clinical decision support tools. Ability to leverage HIT solutions to improve clinical workflows, enhance communication, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, administrators, and ancillary staff. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in complex healthcare projects and initiatives.
Key Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine, Licensed Medical Doctor.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in medical leadership within a complex health system with responsibility for physician relationships, medical staff activities and operational and quality initiatives.
- Must have an active FL Medical License within 6 months of hire
- Proven track record of successfully leading within a community hospital environment
