I. Position Summary: Under general supervision the Certified Nurse Assistant/Ward Clerk will utilize medical, technical and secretarial skills and provide support to members of the health care team.
II. Position Requirements:
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification and/or training as a Nurse Assistant.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: One (1) year experience in acute care or a skilled nursing setting preferred.
- Special qualifications: Current BLS recommended. Good communication skills, both orally and written, computer skills helpful, ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
III. Degree of Supervision Required: Involves general guidance and direction by Supervisors and/ or Department Director. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
IV. Ages of Patients Served: This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.

VI. Physical Requirements: Constant: standing, sitting, seeing, hearing, and finger dexterity. Constant concentration in fine details with frequent interruptions. Occasional: pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, using arm, leg and back muscles may be required. May be expected to lift more than 25 pounds. Manage stress appropriately, handle multiple priorities. Make decisions under stress. Work along and manage anger, fear, hostility and violence of others appropriately.
