I. Position Description
Under direct supervision of the Technical Coordinator, the Assistant Technical Coordinator is responsible for providing excellent customer service and technical support – audio, video, lighting, and photography – of campus events. In addition, may be asked to perform other duties assigned by the Technical Coordinator and the Events Coordinator.
Events include but are not limited to:
- Community Worship
- Student Activities Events
- Celebration Service
- Worldview Forum
- Air Band
- Christmas at Malone
- Admissions Events
- Homecoming
- Commencement
- Summer Events
- Third party events: concerts, weddings, funerals, conferences, etc.
II. Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Directs all aspects of event set-up, staging requirements, lighting, video, photography, and sound system coordination and operation.
2. Responds to technical requests from event customers in a customer-centric fashion while abiding by policies and procedures set forth to provide consistent and excellent event support.
3. Exercises general direction of student workers and other members of the event technical crews.
4. Assists with the functionality of all media equipment used in meeting venues on campus.

VI. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
An Associate’s degree in a media-related field is preferred with working knowledge of the production industry, including rules, and safety regulations. Experience with audio, lighting, video production, and photography is required. Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems is required.

A successful candidate will have the ability to train faculty, staff, and students on media equipment usage and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. He or she will be able to understand and respond to performers’ needs and requests, as outlined in the technical rider or event set up form specifications and be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
The successful candidate will be able to exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs while establishing, maintaining, and fostering positive and harmonious working relationships with co-workers as well as internal and external customers.
This position’s working hours are determined by the events that are scheduled in a given week and can vary significantly (days, evenings, weekends). The position will have moderate exposure to working conditions such as noise, working outdoors, working on ladders and lifts, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards. Essential functions of the position may require considerable physical activity. Must be able lift an average of 60 lbs. Must have a valid driver’s license.
