What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant II position at Marco Technologies?
POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Accountant II is responsible for assisting in compiling, validating, and accurately reporting financial information to Marco's management team. You will work with other members of the finance team to protect Marco's assets and reduce exposure to risk.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee and manage all fixed asset processes including but not limited to:
o Training and supporting accounting support staff in preparation of fixed asset monthly transactions, promoting accuracy and timeliness.
o Reconciling between fixed asset and General Ledger software monthly.
o Ensuring accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP and income tax regulations.
o Creating and providing all required fixed asset reporting on a recurring basis and as required by internal Marco departments.
o Collaborating with internal department on asset accuracy projects.
o Collaborating with external tax accounting firm to provide required fixed asset tax reporting.
- Collaborate with 3rd party compliance company to facilitate all required agency registrations. Prepare and file all required city and county registrations.
- Function as the primary accountant for IT division including reviewing, researching, and reporting accurate financials for division.
- Prepare and record monthly recurring entries and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare financial management reports as requested.
- Prepare, reconcile, and review presentation of draft and final monthly financial statements. Research and resolve any unusual variances and prepare related entries.
- Calculate, prepare, and file sales and use tax reports.
- Assist other departments on questions and process review as it relates to financial statement controls.
- Assist with month end and year end closing procedures and financial statement audit, including preparing the annual audit workpapers for external auditing firm.
- Responsible for the protection and confidentiality of all sensitive financial and payroll data.
- Provide backup to other Accountants when they are out.
- Conform with and abide by all general accounting principles and regulations, including providing internal guidance on GAAP compliance and creating standard work for departments whose processes relate to financial reporting.
- Act in accordance with Marco policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Attend required company and departmental meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
