Assistant Area Coordinators (AAC)
Marshall University’s Department of Housing and Residence Life is seeking candidates who are outgoing, energetic, and skilled applicants for a live-on, 20 hour a week graduate assistantship responsible for joint supervision of a campus residence hall community. Assistant Area Coordinators are responsible for assisting professional Area Coordinators with daily management of the residence halls.
Major Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
Supervision and Staff Development
Oversee a residential community composed of 250-450 freshmen and upper-class students
Assist in the supervision of 6-16 Resident Advisors
Assist in implantation of a residential curriculum
Participate in all staff training and selection processes
Student and Community Development
Opportunities to advise housing student leadership organizations
Assist in the implementation of residential curriculum
Handle roommate meditations
Serve as hearing officer for judicial cases
Assist in campus-wide academic initiatives
Plan and implement community and campus initiatives
Coordinate staff developmental efforts
Administrative Tasks
Maintain 15 weekly office hours (4 of which must occur after 5pm) and a high degree of availability and visibility
Maintain all student records in conjunction with Area Coordinator
Participate in on-call duty rotation
Respond to campus crisis
Assist in creating building reports
Attend weekly staff meetings
Assist in opening and closing of residential communities
Tracking areas of the budget for their assigned community
Department Efforts
Assist in strategic planning
Participate in the organization of at least one departmental program initiative
Other duties as assigned
Department Housing Auxiliary - MU5400 Location MU - Marshall University Semester Fall Semester, Spring Semester, Summer Semester Hours Per Week Full Time (20 hrs a week)

Education
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience
One year in a residential setting is preferred.
Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.

Education Experience
One to two years experience in a residence hall setting or equivalent
