Job Overview:
Create an effective and efficient distribution system using teamwork and cooperation to meet Martin Bros. dual objectives of providing Legendary Customer Service and Inspiring our workers to make a difference.
The expectations and duties outlined are subject to change by the Vice President of Operations without notice at any time.
Expectations:
- Monitor performance of Shipping, Inbound, Inventory, and Maintenance operations by evaluating costs, expenses, and quantity and quality of work.
- Manage Warehouse managers by developing individual goals and providing feedback.
- Plan and implement programs or methods to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency of departments.
- Coordinate and facilitate communication between the Warehousing departments and the Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, and Accounting Departments to ensure customers’ needs are met at the lowest possible cost.
- Manage communication to all personnel through group and one-on-one meetings to ensure personnel remains on track to meet goals and expectations.
- Hire, train, and supervise activities of personnel according to company policies and procedures.
- Monitor legal issues and ensure compliance with outside entities such as OSHA, FDA, et al.
- Ensure compliance with regulations set forth in the Martin Bros. HACCP policies.
- Maintain a clean and attractive warehouse.
- Work various hours with the respective departments to accomplish Martin Bros. overall goals. This would include evenings and weekends as required.
Job Duties:
- Ensure the Warehousing departments are meeting and exceeding customer expectations at the lowest possible cost.
- Develop and establish benchmarks for Inbound, Shipping, and Support functions.
- Develop and effectively communicate operational objectives, policies, and budgets in terms of costs and standards for yourself and management personnel in a participatory management style.
- Monitor and provide feedback to all immediate personnel to assist in their development as managers.
- Review department structures and implement changes as necessary.
- Coordinate the training and development of all department managers and monitor the results.
- Manage and review employee performance on a regular basis. Conduct meaningful and goal-oriented performance reviews.
- Develop and maintain a teamwork and customer focused environment.
- Supervise and establish methods of material handling to meet customer expectations.
- Research and implement ways to improve effectiveness of Warehouse operations.
- Recommend changes or expansion in the physical facilities or equipment used in materials handling and maintain existing assets.
- Ensure security of fleet, warehouse facility, and merchandise.
- Meet safety and insurability needs of Martin Bros.
- Develop and manage Warehouse safety program in conjunction with the Director of Safety and Compliance.
- Develop and manage HACCP and food safety programs.
- Manage all product recall situations.
- Ensure company compliance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the food distribution industry.
- Maintain accuracy of physical inventories at all storage facilities.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in operations and previous management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language & Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply the concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

- General business knowledge – Finance, Operations, Management
