Job Title: Design Engineer
Location: Gainesville, GA (In-Person)
Department: Sales
Reports To: Design and Engineering Manager
Position Type: Full-Time
Job Overview: The Design Engineer will be tasked with design of new concepts in relation to the marine/dock field. The scope of the Design Engineer position will be to take concepts from verbal direction to manufacturable working products using 3D modeling software & engineering principles. The focus is to design dock features & products that have been thoroughly researched considering function, structural integrity, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities:
· Analyzing and testing existing products to identify areas for improvement
· Collaborating with other Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers
· Writing detailed operational procedures, technical instructions, & assembly drawings
· Creating budgets and timelines for each project
· Ensuring all products meet safety regulations
· Researching other products in the market to generate ideas for improvement
· Developing and building prototypes to test their function
· Conducting user research to identify consumer needs
Qualifications:
· Associate or Bachelor of Science in Engineering, mechanical or civil preferred.
· Requires at least 6 (six) years of on-the-job training or any combination of education and experience.
· Requires at least 3 (three) years of 3D CAD design software experience, SolidWorks preferred.
· Fabrication/manufacturing experience.
· Microsoft Office Tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Must effectively speak, read, and write the English language.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working in smaller and fast paced companies
· Experience in design of sheet metal, weldments, large assemblies and plate structures
· Broad based mechanical design experience in heavy industrial/fabricated products
· Tooling and fixture design
· Working through concept to production product development cycles Experience in the construction industry
