Quality Control Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the production process. This role involves inspecting materials, components, and finished products, as well as monitoring manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Inspections: Conduct routine and final inspections of products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Document inspection findings and work with production teams to resolve issues.
- Testing Procedures: Perform tests on products and materials, including tensile, hardness, and dimension testing, using a variety of tools and measurement equipment.
- Documentation: Accurately record inspection results and maintain detailed logs and reports, ensuring traceability of all products.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify non-conforming products and initiate corrective actions in line with company protocols. Assist in root cause analysis and participate in corrective and preventive action activities.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, GMP) and internal policies for product quality and safety.
- Calibration: Regularly inspect equipment used for quality checks to ensure accurate results. Report any calibration issues or equipment malfunctions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, engineers, and supervisors to address quality concerns and implement solutions for improvement.
- Computer Proficiency: Utilize computer systems and software to document inspection results, analyze data, and generate quality reports. Maintain proficiency in tools such as spreadsheets, databases, and quality management software.
- MRP System Navigation: Access and interpret data within Epicor to track production records, analyze material usage, and gather information for quality-related research and troubleshooting.
Candidate Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with quality inspection tools and software. Experience with statistical process control (SPC), measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers), and testing equipment.
- Knowledge: Understanding of quality assurance and control methodologies. Knowledge of ISO, GMP, or other industry standards is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify minute product defects.
- Problem-solving: Analytical skills to help investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills for clear documentation and collaborative problem-solving.
Physical requirements
- Ability to life 35 lbs. on occasion.
- Ability to stand for extended periods – 2-hour periods.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
