Summary/Objective
The Research and Development Technician position is responsible for supporting R&D activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
This position is responsible for supporting all R&D functions related to experiments and process control. Maintains compliance with McDanel policy and procedure in accordance with governing laws, regulations, regulatory agencies, accreditation bodies and company standards. Demonstrates on a consistent basis individual and team behavior that supports our mission and strategic goals of McDanel. Attends all training programs as required/directed. Be a role model to other staff. Other duties may be assigned.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Assist R&D engineers, R&D manager and other scientific staff in the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of new or improved material, products, and assemblies.
- Perform destructive and nondestructive tests according to existing or new tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
- Help evaluation of customer returns/field failures.
- Assist engineers to eliminate production problems.
- Assist engineers with Commissioning and qualifying new equipment in manufacturing departments.
- Make computations, analyze results and write short reports.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and database within the company, managing safety information at the “RIGHT TO KNOW” center.
- Assist in creation and maintenance of SOPs.
- Complete internal audits.
- Frequent short written and verbal reporting of activities.
- Record data in Laboratory journals.
- Maintain all lab and pilot plant equipment as assigned.
- Back up Process Control Technician.

Education and/or Experience
AS Degree in Ceramic or Material Science preferred, but not required or related field with minimum of 4 years of experience in related work.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
