- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

- Approve and monitor safety for assignment of bus stops, routing, and scheduling.
- Approves field trips, and athletic trips for transportation services.
- Creates and executes a comprehensive and cost-effective school bus fleet rotation plan, ensuring appropriate preventive maintenance, repair services, and replacement in accordance with federal and state regulations and district policy
- Reports ridership information as required by federal and state regulations and district policy.
- Recruits, interviews, and hires transportation staff according to districts’ hiring guidelines.
- Oversees and ensures state compliance regulations for bus driver licensing and other transportation staff requirements.
- Maintains accurate records for preparation of state and local reports, such as inventories, pupil transportation, route mileage, time records, special trip records, traffic accidents, and other required reports.
- Collaborates with school administrators and parents/guardians to respond to incidents and complaints regarding school bus safety and student behavior.
- Arranges for appropriate transportation of passengers with special needs.
- Interprets and communicates transportation procedures and regulations to the public and staff.
- Analyzes accident reports for possible revision of safety practices and possible disciplinary action.
- Incorporates transportation software system in the planning, forecasting, and assigning the transportation services.
- Provides recommendations for improvement of transportation services and efficiency.
- Identifies learning needs of transportation staff and facilitates appropriate continuing education opportunities.
- Collaborates with district Superintendents during inclement weather regarding school closing and student/staff safety.
- Ensure communication between district administration, building principals, transportation staff, and building staff.
- Interview and recommend staff for vacant positions.
- Provide in-service training for personnel on new equipment, safety standards, and work methods.
- Administer provisions of collective bargaining agreement and/or District procedures in regard to staffing, transfers, discipline, time off, and leaves.
- Supervise and evaluate staff.
- Prepare specifications and submit cost estimates of proposed activities.
- Conduct safety inspections, accident investigations, and training programs to create a safe environment for students and staff.
- Conduct transportation studies to improve existing transportation services.
- Investigate and report accidents.
- Member of the Building Committee, Safety Committee, and District REDI team.
- Ability to travel within and outside of the District as necessary.
- Shares emergency readiness response duties for 24-hour operational needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
