The Medical Preparatory Academy of Rhode Island is a new and innovative charter school committed to preparing students for success in top colleges and careers. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide essential health services to our students while also teaching medical courses that empower students to explore careers in the medical field.
As a new school, we are focused on fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that emphasizes high expectations, equity, and belonging. Our mission is to equip students with the skills and experiences they need to succeed in both their academic and professional pursuits.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide first aid, emergency care, and support for student illnesses and injuries.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments per health plans.
Maintain accurate health records and communicate with families regarding health concerns.
Teach medical-related courses to high school students, integrating real-world applications of medical knowledge.
Promote wellness and healthy habits through educational initiatives.
Work collaboratively with staff to ensure a safe, supportive school environment.
Serve as a mentor during Personal Learning Time and engage in student empowerment activities.
Qualifications:
Must possess a Rhode Island Department of Education School Nurse certificate.
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Rhode Island.
Bachelor’s degree
Experience in a school or pediatric health setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
