Pre-requisites
Education: Associate’s degree in computer technology or related field with a certification in Microsoft Certified Solutions or
Experience: Experience may be substituted for degree or certification.
Skills/Abilities:
- Must have a working technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems including Windows 10, Server 2012, and Server 2016. Prefer knowledge of VMware Servers.
- Working technical knowledge of current software applications including Microsoft Office, IIS, and Edge.
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Proficient in Data Communications and installing Ethernet TCP/IP networking and cabling.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Competent in coordinating projects with fellow employees.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize changing workloads; identify and solve problems.
- Capable to work effectively as a team member.
Other Requirements: Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.

Typical Responsibilities Include
Provides desktop PC support, software installation and assistance, solves hardware and software problems, and provides assistance in maintaining local and wide area networks.
- Computers:
a. Installation - Delivers, sets-up, and performs initial system diagnostics. Also inventories, records and installs system for user and works with user on new options if required.
b. Troubleshooting - Serves as PC help desk for Cooperative, issues directives, and determines if problem can be resolved or requires IT Supervisor.
c. Inventory - Inventories systems (records operating system (OS), OS version, applications and versions, memory, HD capacity, non-OEM utilities and hardware).
d. Maintenance - Maintains service records, ensures systems are covered by service and serves as contact for service requests.
e. Software - Installs and provides user support for approved software including MS Office, Java, Anti-virus and other non-standard software. Installs and provides limited support for specialized software unique to Cooperative operations.
f. Configuration - Develops configuration for users consistent with Cooperative standards.
2.Installs, configures and maintains networking hardware such as routers, switches and WAPs.
3.Installs, configures and maintains access control system.
4.Installs, configures and maintains IP camera system.
5.Provides support of IP-based phone system and video conference system.
6.Assists with the installation of various types of communication cable and equipment at MEC facilities.
7.Assists with the installation of mobile radios and other communication devices in MEC vehicles.
8.Prepares reports, equipment requisitions, timesheets and maintains trouble logs.
9.General Responsibilities:
a. Duties apply to all Cooperative locations unless noted.
b. Works with other departments and employees as required evaluating and implementing new technologies.
c. Assists in developing department budget.
d. Attends seminars, in-house training, and other functions relevant to positions. Sometimes travel will require overnight stays.
e. Must be able to drive and maintain a current Texas driver's license.
f. Must be able to work during emergency conditions.
g. Performs all duties in accordance with applicable safety, policy, and procedure manuals.
h. Conduct must reflect a professional image when in contact with members, general public, and employees.
i. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Standard Requirements
- Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and cooperative standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Must be able to communicate with others in person and on the telephone clearly and courteously.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Occasionally requires driving a vehicle and traveling alone.
