What are the responsibilities and job description for the Broker Settlements Clerk position at Mercer Transportation?

Essential Job Functions- Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm,
1. Performs data entry and write-up of truck revenue adjustments when necessary.
2. Processes truck pay settlements, ensure accuracy of payment and expedite disbursement mail in accordance with company guidelines and procedures.
3. Researches discrepancies of payments made to contractors.
4. Responds to questions from drivers on disposition on pay.
5. Identifies errors in billing and correct within same business day.
6. Mails checks.
7. Issues and activate driver fuel cards.
8. Files terminated driver information.
9. Processes payoffs.
10. Processes receivables when a driver has been over paid.
Essential Skills and Experience
1. High School Diploma/GED
2. Three (3) years of clerical experience
3. Knowledge of accounting systems and procedures.
4. Ability to answer phones, maintain accurate correspondence and field/answer all routine and non-routine questions.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey information effectively and provide others with a clear understanding of information.
6. Ability to provide full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
7. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop systems and processes.
8. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
1. Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include: sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; operating office equipment; and lifting up to 25 pounds.
2. Visual Acuity; ability to see and hear within normal parameters, must use hands and fingers to use keyboard and mouse; operate equipment or controls; reach above shoulder heights, below the waist; or lift to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required.
