As a Property General Adjuster, you will apply a vast specialized knowledge base of current Company policy, applicable regulatory standards and procedural changes to investigate, evaluate and settle highly complex homeowners or commercial property claims in a timely and efficient manner as to prevent unnecessary expense to the Company and policyholders, and provide exceptional service to our customers. This position requires travel of up to 50% of work time.
- Investigate highly complex Homeowners or Commercial Property claims to confirm facts, origin and cause of loss.
- Address and handle all exposures of the claim, including Dwelling, Other Structures, Contents, Loss of Use (Homeowners), or Building, Business Personal Property, Business Interruption (Commercial). Investigations may include scene inspection, recorded interviews with policyholders or other witnesses, or the use of appropriate experts.
- Compare facts gathered during the investigation against policy to determine coverage of claim, extend or deny coverage as appropriate.
- Assess and determine the extent of damages, and document with photographs, measurements, repair estimate, and thorough log notes.
- Establishes reserve amounts within prescribed settlement authority limit and negotiates settlement of claims; recommends claims which exceed personal authority limit to supervisor for approval.
- Maintain claims on a regular diary to monitor unresolved issues and exposures. Regularly monitor progress and expense of ongoing claims.
- Throughout the entire claim handling process, ensure exceptional service is provided to customers. This includes timely response to phone calls, emails, written communication, and adherence to Department of Insurance requirements.
- Directs, monitors, and reviews files handled by independent adjusters to conclusion.
- Obtain state P&C Adjusting licensing when required.
- Assists in training property personnel.
- Other functions may be assigned.
Education:
Minimum: Combination of education and experience relevant to the duties of the position.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and experience relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience:
Minimum: 8 years of property claims handling experience.
Preferred: 10 years of property claims handling experience. Currently has, or are able to obtain, state
Property Adjuster P&C Licenses including, but not limited to, the following states: GA, OK, and
TX.
Skills & Abilities:
• Custodial use of a Company vehicle is provided; you must meet established Company standards regarding personal driving history and current driver’s license status to be eligible for this position.
• A good working knowledge of office & business computer applications.
• Proficient mathematical skills to compute cost of damage and repair.
• A good working knowledge of construction nomenclature and procedures.
• Ability to perform field inspections at least 50% of work time (company car provided).
• Ability to use advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors and insureds to identify damage and write a damage estimate from a virtual setting when needed.
• Technical knowledge of and proficiency in property evaluation, estimation, and Xactimate.
• Written and verbal communication skills to interact with internal and external customers effectively and professionally, vendors and other third parties.
• Ability to adhere to established Company policies and procedures within claims operations.
• Critical attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
