As an Educational Diagnostician, you will engage and support teachers and students with a first class learning experience that maximizes their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development, including the development of their ability to apply their intellect to solving problems and contribute to their communities as enlightened and responsible citizens.
You will be a leader in identifying and recognizing the needs of exceptional learners. You will work to improve educational outcomes for all students by providing support to students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators in the identification, evaluation, and development of plans for students served under IDEA and Section 504 by implementing and evaluating the special education and dyslexia evaluation process. You’ll coordinate assessments, interpretation, and report findings with recommendations to the Section 504/ARD Committees.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Knowledge of diagnostic procedures for evaluating achievement and intellectual functioning for educational purposes
Strong consultation skills for conferencing with student evaluation team members, teachers, parents, and students

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment:
Receive student referrals for Special Education and Dyslexia and implement the assessment and evaluation process.
Select and administer formal and informal evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education and Dyslexia services according to federal and Texas Education Agency regulations.
Collect and organize relevant assessment data from the student's cumulative folder, classroom teachers(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource people.
Conduct classroom observation and personal interviews.
Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with
interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
Review full and individual evaluations for consistency, readability, and appropriate interpretation.
Ensure that the district is meeting evaluation timelines.
Supports the Interventionists with Dyslexia Screenings for K-1
Supports the Testing Coordinator with the administration of the 7th grade reading diagnostic assessment.
Supports the high school with the administration of diagnostic assessments needed in order to determine eligibility for IB exams.
Program Management:
Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents
Assist in the selection of appraisal materials and equipment.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
Assumes responsibility for coordinating the dyslexia program throughout the district
Effectively communicates state and district dyslexia policy and guidelines to teachers and staff
Support Special Education Coordinators in the completion of 504s and ARDs
Complete and facilitate 504s involving dyslexia
Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment
Assist in planning state-of-the-art professional development
Communication:
Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
Effectively communicate with campus-based administrators, general education teachers, other school and district staff, parents, agencies and community members.
Other:
Maintain confidentiality.
Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations
Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
Perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district
employees in the specific work site assigned (classroom or office setting).
Perform any and all duties as assigned.
Successfully advances district initiatives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise of Diagnostician intern or trainee
Supervise and coordinate contracted evaluation services
