Federal Work Study - Library (Cochran Campus)

Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. MGA has five campuses-Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins, all located in central Georgia-and global outreach through its fully-online campus. Its enrollment of 8,000 students is largely comprised of students from most of Georgia's 159 counties. Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for the position of Part-Time Library Federal Work Study Student Assistant at the Cochran campus. This position provides general library assistance in the library during daytime and evening hours. Employee does not normally work during intersession (between semesters), Spring Breaks, during holiday periods or other times when the library is not open, but opportunities to do so may occasionally arise. Maximum of 19 hours per week.

• Perform circulation desk duties including checking in and out library materials using an automated circulation system.
• Assist patrons with general questions.
• Shelve library materials according to Library of Congress standards.
• Shelf read library stacks to ensure quality control.
• Shift library materials as needed.
• Answer circulation desk telephone.
• Assist other library staff as needed.
• Must be able to navigate MGA email, SWORDS, Brightspace/D2L, and Microsoft Office.
• Must be detail oriented when performing job duties.
• Must be dependable and courteous.

• Minimum GPA of 2.0 and be enrolled at Middle Georgia State University for at least 6 hours, 12 hours preferably.
• Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

• A student worker must have knowledge of computers and different software programs.
• Any prior job experience in an office environment is helpful, but not necessary.
