Description:

Responsibilities and Duties: Working under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director of Clinical Services will oversee and manage all clinical operations within MillarRich, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care. This leadership role requires strategic planning, operational oversight, and coordination of clinical staff to enhance the delivery of healthcare services. The Director of Clinical Services will ensure compliance with regulatory standards, implement best practices in clinical care, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the clinical teams.

Specific duties include:

  • Person-Centered Care:
  • Ensures that persons served satisfaction is a key focus across all clinical services;
  • Provides guidance and supervision to nurses, therapists (e.g., behavioral, occupational, physical, speech, etc.), and other healthcare professionals in treatment planning;
  • Ensures data-driven decision making in all aspects of treatment planning;
  • Addresses concerns and complaints related to clinical care, ensuring timely resolution and improvement;
  • Implements initiatives to enhance the experience of persons served, focusing on quality, safety, and overall satisfaction;
  • Clinical Leadership and Operational Oversight:
  • Leads and directs the clinical services department to ensure that care is delivered in a safe, effective, and compassionate manner;
  • Manages daily clinical operations, ensuring the efficient flow of services, optimal resource utilization, and minimal wait times;
  • Collaborates with external healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care coordination;
  • Fosters a collaborative environment, promoting teamwork and cross-disciplinary communication;
  • Works with the Quality Assurance and Risk Management team to maintain and enhance the process and implementation of the on-call clinical response to crises;
  • Actively participates in the policy, procedure, resources, and forms workgroup by: a.) Developing and implementing clinical protocols, policies, procedures, resources, and forms that comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices; b.) Referencing and researching accreditation indicators, regulatory compliance measures and other initiatives that include best practices such as trauma-informed care, person-centered practices, technology, least intrusive supports and fading; c.) Identifying and reviewing data that informs the process; d.) Soliciting feedback from stakeholders;
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, including Tennessee Department of Health, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and other healthcare-specific laws;
  • Monitors clinical performance metrics and implements corrective actions when necessary to meet quality goals;
  • Conducts regular audits, evaluations, and surveys to assess the quality of care and outcomes for persons served;
  • Staff Development and Training:
  • Leads the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of clinical staff, ensuring that the team is adequately trained and equipped to provide exceptional persons served care;
  • Oversees ongoing professional development programs for clinical staff, ensuring competency in clinical skills and knowledge of evolving healthcare practices;
  • Promotes a culture of continuous learning, mentorship, and professional growth;
  • Develops and teaches clinical skills curriculum training to Case Managers, Support Specialists, Family Lifestyle Teachers, Foster Parents, etc.;
  • Works with local universities to facilitate meaningful internships that mutually benefit the student and MillarRich;
  • Strategic Planning and Fiscal Management:
  • Contributes to the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan, including the growth and expansion of clinical services;
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to align clinical objectives with organizational goals and priorities;
  • Serves as key contact with the Department of Disability and Aging (DDA), Department of Children’s Services (DCS), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and other external stakeholders in the negotiation of clinical service contracts and monitors service delivery to ensure targets are met;
  • Works with DDA, DCS, Managed Care Organizations and the finance team in establishing billing systems for clinical services;
  • Works with finance to prepare and manage the budget for clinical services, ensuring efficient use of resources and maintaining financial accountability;
  • Other duties may be assigned as circumstances warrant.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

  • A master’s degree in a clinical field is required.
  • In-depth experience in Behavior Analyst preferred
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in clinical leadership roles, with a proven track record of managing clinical operations in a healthcare setting.
  • Current with license, training requirements and/or professional standards in clinical role.
  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex healthcare systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of person served care models, and evidence-based practices.
  • Ability to direct clinical interventions in behavior and health.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively and translate business needs into actionable strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
