Brief Position Overview
The Director of the Montana Center for Inclusive Education (MCIE) is a professional role at MSUB and is responsible for leading MCIE to fulfill its mission as a historic trailblazing institution focused on creating a fully inclusive society that values diversity. The center originated as a school for children with cerebral palsy in 1947. As needs for the diverse population of Montana have evolved over time, the Director of the MCIE role has changed. The Director will report directly to the Dean of the College of Education and must work effectively with federal, state, and community partners to ensure excellent services for the diverse population of Montana and to secure funding that furthers the mission of MCIE.

Duties and Responsibilities
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Writes grants and contracts to lead resource and program development for MCIE among local, regional, state, and federal programs in accordance with the missions and visions of MCIE, College of Education, and MSUB.
  • Oversees the fiscal responsibilities of the MCIE and coordinates with MUSB’s Office of the Provost, the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs, and the Dean of the College of Education.
  • Represents MCIE with local, state, and federal organizations; as well as the Montana University System.
  • Supervises and coordinates all MCIE projects and personnel.
  • Supervises and coordinates staff development to ensure a high standard of performance and a positive work environment; including regular evaluations of personnel for professional growth.
  • Leads, encourages, and models collaborative work with funding organizations and other partners.
  • Participates on boards and committees related to MCIE activities.
  • Collaborates with the Provost and the Dean of the College of Education to create long-term goals and strategic plans for MCIE.
  • Ensure MCIE personnel are familiar and in compliance with MSUB administration and academic policies and procedures.
  • The Director of MCIE is expected to manage specific programs. For example, managing the Institution for Neurodiversity and the coordination of Movin’ On in Montana: An Enhanced EMentoring Experience project.
  • Occasional regional travel to meetings and/or conferences.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Education Required:
  • Master’s Degree or higher


Experience Required:
  • 5 Years of leadership experience in a variety of capacities
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience with seeking and obtaining local, state, and federal grants and successful implementation of grant-funded projects
  • Experience implementing initiatives and projects in service to diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Education Preferred:
  • Terminal Degree


Experience Preferred:
  • 10 years of leadership experience and professional training in leadership
  • Established connections at the local, state, and federal levels
