Job Summary:
The Patient Access Supervisor coordinates, prioritizes, and monitors the job performance of Patient Access Representatives to ensure effective and efficient customer service by the Patient Access Department. In keeping with established Policies and Procedures, the Patient Access Supervisor develops, trains, and assigns staff that provide Inpatient and Ambulatory Registration, Pre-Registration, Insurance Verification, Financial Counseling, Birth Registry, Discharge Processing, Cashiering, and Bed Control.
The Patient Access Supervisor also assures the compliant delivery of these services, keeps self and staff focused on performance improvement, maintains and fosters a positive work environment among departmental and interdepartmental staff, and regularly monitors work output to identify deficiencies and successes.
The Patient Access Supervisor is also responsible for coordination with Patient Accounts to ensure information required for effective collection of accounts is obtained accurately and in a timely manner. The Patient Access Supervisor reports to the Patient Access Director.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree required.
- Five to seven years experience in a health care institution with significant experience in Patient Access, Patient Accounts or a related area required.
- Strong interpersonal & managerial skills required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Around the clock commitment to ensure all operations are performing at expected standards required.
- Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office programs, printers, photo copy machine, fax machine, scanners, calculators, & office equipment required.
