Position: SOS Monitor/ Peer Support
Reports To: SOS Coordinator
Compensation: Hourly Position
Summary: Ensures the safety and welfare of women residents and the smooth uninterrupted flow of household operations, including general supervision and care of residents of the 24-hour, nonmedical substance abuse recovery center.
Essential Functions:
1) Ensure the safety of all clients in the facility.
2) Maintain client confidentiality and privacy and demonstrate ethical behavior.
3) Follow and enforce policies and procedures daily.
4) Use universal precautions daily.
5) Answer phones professionally and provide information to potential clients and referral sources.
6) Conduct initial screenings and maintain a waiting list.
7) Initiate file on new clients upon admission and maintain current documentation including progress notes, census forms, discharge sheets, and other information deemed necessary.
8) Monitor the general health of clients, including distressed withdrawal, and refer to appropriate personnel when necessary.
9) Report to immediate supervisor any emergencies, issues, and / or concerns.
10) Take appropriate action in crisis situations.
11) Perform safety checks on all beds every hour.
12) Participate in all scheduled trainings and meetings.
13) Complete all required shift documentation.
14) Utilize the Program Manual and the Recovery Kentucky Guidebook to preserve the integrity of the peer-driven, abstinence-based program model.
15) Create and maintain a consistent and nurturing environment for all clients.
16) Upholds the integrity and standards related to PREA Training.
17) Facilitate group activities and promote social interaction among individuals
18) Assist individuals in developing and achieving their personal goals
19) Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive and positive environment
20) Participates in program and/or agency fund-raising activities as directed by supervisor.
21) Performs all other duties, as assigned.
Education, Experience & Training:
High School Diploma or GED required. If in recovery, one year of continuous sobriety and working an active recovery program. First Aid and CPR certification required throughout employment tenure. Familiarity with women’s issues (parenting, domestic violence, mental health, etc.) and chemical dependency treatment preferred. Ability to work with persons in a manner that shows sensitivity to cultural diversity, sexual orientation, and racial / ethnic differences.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or exert force up to 50 pounds.
Specific sensory abilities required include close vision, ability to perceive and discriminate colors, shades of colors, sounds, and odors. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to type and have general knowledge of office procedures and computer office programs. Ability to maintain professional attitude in working with co-workers and public. Considerable knowledge of organization methods, rules, and office equipment. Ability to plan and organize. Sound judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness.
