Purchasing Manager

Job Description

The Purchasing Coordinator should have a strong work ethic, be proactive, be self-motivated, have excellent organizational and coordination skills, be computer proficient in Microsoft Office and integrated purchasing accounting software. Also needs to have the ability to work with a team dedicated to providing a quality product, on schedule and on budget. This is NOT an entry level position, but a leadership position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support with placing orders with suppliers for production materials as required to meet quick demand and turnaround times.
• Provide administrative support including processing of correspondence from rough or revised drafts, data entry, preparations and/or maintenance of miscellaneous reports and vendor files.
• Monitor the status of open orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential problems.
• Collaborate to develop a schedule to receive the shipment of goods.
• Receive and process material deliveries daily, including verification of delivered items/quantities, unloading trucks, ensuring items are stored correctly and processing needed returns.
• Confirm all received materials match the purchase orders.
• Set up and maintain an item master list for inventory keeping.
• Promptly accounting for the location of materials received.
• Assuring no damaged items are received.
• Prepare orders/packages for pick-up by contractors.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
• 1-3 years of experience in buyer/planner/material scheduler role.
• Must be bilingual in English & Spanish.
• Knowledge of inventory management and warehousing disciplines.
• Proficient in MS Office - advanced skills with MS Excel.
• Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
• Excellent organization, communication, and follow-up skills.
• Previous construction purchasing is a plus.
