Primary Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for the support, leadership, and direction of the metal fabrication department teams in the process of manufacturing sub-assemblies. The Fabrication department consists of CNC Punch Press, Brake Press, Welding, Grinding, Secondary Opps and Internal Logistics.
This 3rd shift position will work Sunday through Thursday starting approximately 10pm. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operation and troubleshooting of CNC machinery as well as leading operators from new hires to efficient production. Experience with employee and production related paperwork including time sheets, employee reviews, performance improvement plans, interviewing/hiring, production order processing, and labeling is necessary. Advanced capabilities utilizing ERP/MRP systems for production planning/scheduling and to track inventories as they move through the production process is required.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions where needed
- Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
- Manage and document team related concerns such as: punch corrections, time-off requests, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
- Collect and analyze data to find places of waste and reduce overtime
- Commit to plant safety procedures
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets
- Ensure team's correct utilization of ERP/MRP system to track inventory movements.
- Address employees’ issues, questions or concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
- Start-up and shut down of all machines and auxiliary equipment in the department.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a plant manager in a fabrication environment, preferably of similar size and complexity of offerings (high mix)
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
- Computer literacy including Microsoft applications and MRP/ERP systems
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- Ability to read and understand drawing/print specifications.
- Must have strong decision-making skills that are supported by data collection, data analysis, and statistical process control expertise.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business or a related field
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 5 years supervision experience with good leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with motivating teams to accomplish set goals
- Extensive knowledge around Sheet Metal: welding, machining, fabrication, press brake operation, punch press, turret press, laser, shear & powder coating.
- Ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Preferred experience with Lean techniques including Six Sigma.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000 - 80,000 per year

Qualifications
Education and Experience

- Must have strong decision-making skills that are supported by data collection, data analysis, and statistical process control expertise.
- Start-up and shut down of all machines and auxiliary equipment in the department.
- Must have good mechanical knowledge, hands on skills and computer skills.
- Preferred experience with Lean techniques including Six Sigma.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 50 lbs frequently.
- Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand and walk for 1 10 hours per day.
- Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
Work Site Environment
- Ability to work in a 55 85 degree Fahrenheit work environment.
