Pipeline Technician (Natural Gas)

KPC Pipeline, a subsidiary of MVP, owns and operates an interstate gas pipeline which transports natural gas from Oklahoma and Kansas to metropolitan Kansas City, Wichita, and other interconnecting pipeline markets. We are currently looking for a Pipeline Technician to join our team in Olathe, KS. This position is responsible for the day-to-day natural gas operations to optimize throughput, while also ensuring safety for the public, employees, assets, and the environment. Our ideal candidate will be organized, detailed, and a disciplined self-starter who can work cohesively towards the team objectives. Essential Functions

• Conducting regular inspections of pipelines and valves to ensure optimal operation and to identify any potential issues.
• Performing maintenance tasks such as replacing parts, fixing leaks, and applying corrosion protection measures to prolong the lifespan of pipeline systems.
• Implementing and upholding safety protocols to prevent incidents, including environmental hazards.
• Work on high pressure natural gas pipelines.
• Complete line locates and meet with landowners in coverage areas.
• Assist with pipeline operations including pigging, valve maintenance, and other pipeline duties.
• Coordinating with other team members and departments to facilitate efficient communication regarding pipeline operations and maintenance.
• Preparing and maintaining accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs for regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Education, Certifications, License

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Requires a valid Driver’s License.
• Active CDL, preferred.

Work Experience

• Experience using power tools, preferred.
• Experience hooking up and driving hauling trailers, preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another.
• Ability to enunciate clearly and project voice to communicate around noise.
• Operate motor vehicles and drive, on company business, to various worksites and locations.
• Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, or similar structures.
• Remain in a stationary position, often standing, sitting, kneeling, or crouching for prolonged periods.
• Adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
• Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers.
• Operate machinery or power tools.
• Assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
• Use a computer, read, work with small materials, or other task causing eyestrain for a prolonged duration.
• Operate in an indoor/outdoor industrial field environment and is often subject to extreme temperatures due to the weather and the equipment involved.
• Work in potentially hazardous environments at various project sites.
• Ability to periodically travel for extended periods of time.
• Ability to be available for responding to emergency situations after work hours, nights, weekends, and on-call as needed.
