What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Intern- Actuarial position at N&D?
Responsibilities:
- Perform rate reviews by state and line of business, including rate indications, disruption analyses, and state filing exhibits
- Research competitor pricing and product changes, as well as competitor growth and profitability trends
- Investigate specific questions posed by management- e.g. how the mix of business is shifting in a given state, why a book of business is deteriorating, or how changes in case reserving are impacting results
- Build clear and comprehensive dashboard reports that visually convey growth and profitability trends
- Document methodologies and findings for senior management in a manner understandable to a non-actuarial audience
- Keep current on industry and company developments
- Perform related work as required
Qualifications:
- Working towards Bachelor’s degree
- Interest in attaining CAS membership by taking CAS exams; 1 exams passed a plus
- Strong background in mathematics and statistics
- General knowledge of business and finance
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, statistical analysis programs, and programming languages
- Strong oral and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences inside and outside the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance multiple projects
