Youth Counselor

NAFI Connecticut | Rhode Island | New York is a dynamic multi-service agency at the forefront of youth and family support across Connecticut, Rhode Island and New York. We are exploring candidates for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Youth Counselor. This role involves working with teenage boys who are aging out of the system, helping them develop the skills necessary for independent living.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Teach and mentor teenage boys in various independent
  living skills, including cooking, budgeting, job searching, and personal hygiene
• Facilitating problem-solving among residents and nurturing peer relationships
• Organizing and orchestrating special activities and projects tailored for the youth
• Provide support and guidance to help participants achieve their goals
• Maintain accurate records of participant progress and activities
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a supportive and cohesive environment
• Actively participating in scheduled staff meetings
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting environment

Qualifications/Skills:

• All candidates must successfully clear DCYF, Driving Record, and Rhode Island State background checks
• Must possess a valid driver license
• Computer Skills 
• Must be able to transport clients as needed
• Residential overnight experience a plus but not required
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Work independently and as part of a team
