SUPERVISES Special Education Staff
JOB GOAL To assist the Director of Special Education in designing, developing, and delivering those programs determined appropriate for students with verified special needs; and to evaluate programs, services, and personnel as required.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Program administration and supervision of special education programs.
- Coordinate special education programs, services, curriculum, teaching practices, training, and compliance for special education programs.
- Program co-supervision with principals of special education programs and related services.
- Provide building program support- attends special education department meetings, serves as district representative for select MDT/IEP meetings, provides building-level triage support and crisis response when needed, collaborates with IEP case managers and behavior facilitators to coordinate IEP case management and (YATP) students in level II, level III, and homeschool settings.
- Assist in determining staff development needs in special education and in providing in-service training for certified and classified staff.
- Assist in long-range planning for special education programs and participate in the district strategic planning process.
- Keep informed on state and federal laws, trends, and initiatives in areas of special education supervision.
- Consult with central office administrators, principals, teachers, and parents related to special education services.
- Assist with the supervision of district Child Find activities.
- Consult with the Director of Special Education and IEP teams to coordinate Extended School Year (ESY) services and special education services for students attending summer school programs.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned.
