Director of Operations - West

Job Summary:

Develop and grow the distribution centers located in the western United States region (Amarillo - TX, Jerome - ID, and Turlock - CA) in line with the company objectives. This Director will oversee the overall operations, managing inventory, optimizing processes, and ensuring timely distribution of products. You will be responsible for managing a team, implementing safety protocols and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Builds Plans, organizes, monitors and manages the day-to-day processes and operations of the Amarillo, Jerome, and Turlock Distribution Centers, including but not limited to, shipping and receiving, property administration, on-line office supply ordering, mail services, warehousing, logistics, regulatory compliance, etc

• Ensure a culture of safety by following safety protocols, policies and procedures, and help to identify potential risks and develop a plan to help mitigate those risks

• Directly responsible for Amarillo, Jerome, and Turlock Distribution Centers KPIs, including Dock-to-Stock Time, Inventory Accuracy, cycle counting accuracy and timeliness, pick/ship accuracy and timeliness, overall warehouse and employee utilization and efficiency, etc.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and works closely with the regulatory department to complete all SQF required documentation, meetings, and audits.

• Participates in the development of the Amarillo, Jerome, and Turlock Distribution Centers’ budgets, coordinates the allocation of resources and recommends approval of expenditures.

• Supervises a variety of staff within the Amarillo, Jerome, and Turlock Distribution Centers, and acts as a liaison with other internal departments within Nelson-Jameson.

Required Education and Experience:

• Education: Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of current products and customers.
• Knowledge of Warehouse Operations and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Industry experience in Warehousing and Distribution.
• Previous leadership and management experience with an emphasis on team development.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Experience:

• 5 years experience in distribution or related business.
• Made4Net Warehouse Management System experience.
• Epicor Profit21 ERP Experience.
• SQF (or equivalent) Audit and Compliance experience.
• Experience with Lot Controlled Items, Serialized Items, and Product Traceability.

• Lean Trained with strong aptitude towards root cause analysis and problem solving with an emphasis and drive towards continuous improvement.

• Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementation experience is a plus.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and an insurable drivers record.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving equipment, dust particles, ladders, hazardous chemicals and slight risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The working surface is concrete.
