What are the responsibilities and job description for the A/R Specialist position at New Brighton Care Center?
Summary:
Responsible for facility Medicaid and Private Pay billing, accounts receivable, and collection activities, this position is also responsible for achieving cash collection and AR goals for the facility. Works with other department heads to ensure compliance with all financial regulatory and other requirements.
AR Specialist Responsibilities:
- Assists with Medicaid Pending applications, and works with residents, family and applicable outside agencies to finalize facility coverage through Medicaid
- Establishes and maintains a system of financial record keeping, to include issuing receipts, preparing and making bank deposits, and recording payments.
- Interact with department heads and payers to define billing requirements and ensure prompt payment of claims.
- Manages census activities including daily, weekly, and monthly balancing with the nursing and admissions departments.
- Responsible for Resident Trust Account for in-house residents, to include weekly and monthly reconciliations.
- Responsible for petty cash and collections.
- Must understand Accounts Receivable.
- Must understand Accounts Payable.
- Confidentiality and privacy of all data, including patient/resident, employee and operations data.
- Supports and participates in common teamwork.
- Use tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Interacts with residents, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
AR Specialist Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or relevant work experience, preferred.
- Point Click Care experience, preferred.
- Resident Trust experience preferred.
- Geriatric and long-term care experience preferred.
- Computer and Collection experience required.
- Experience with Medicaid billing and MNITS experience as well as experience with third party clearinghouse billing.
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MSHO and Medicare Advantage plans.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
