Who We Are

 

The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) is the statewide advocacy and capacity building organization that currently represents each of New Jersey’s county-based sexual violence organizations, the Rutgers University Office of Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance (New Brunswick), and a cohort of eight programs that provide support with an emphasis on the experiences and needs of survivors in culturally specific communities throughout the state. NJCASA elevates the voice of sexual violence survivors and service providers by advocating for survivor-centered legislation, training allied professionals, and supporting statewide prevention strategies that work to address and defy the socio-cultural norms that permit and promote rape culture.

 

NJCASA provides a statewide voice for survivors of sexual assault and for the organizations that serve them, with a focus which includes:

  • Advocacy for survivor-centered policies and legislation.
  • Training and education for sexual violence programs, law enforcement, and allied professionals; and
  • Prevention programs equipping youth and adults with skills to prevent sexual violence.

 

Who You Are

The Grants Analyst Specialist is responsible for ensuring NJCASA’s programming needs are resourced, deliverables are tracked, and outcomes are communicated to funding partners. The Grants Analyst Specialist is also responsible for supporting coalition member programs in accessing resources that enable them to meet the needs of their respective communities. NJCASA’s Grants Analyst Specialist is a critical member of our small, passionate team. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of oppression as the root cause of sexual violence and the need to increase New Jersey’s capacity to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive services to all survivors. As is the case with all positions on our team, the selected candidate will be encouraged think creatively and through an anti-oppression lens and to seek opportunity amid challenges. Coalition work is dynamic and fast-paced, as our charge is to be responsive to the needs before us. The ideal candidate will be able to support a portfolio of diverse projects and have vision and passion for the mission of NJCASA. Additionally, candidates should be collaborative, outcomes-oriented, work with compassion and intention, think strategically, and be interested in being part of a progressive, mission-driven team.

What You'll Do

  • Be familiar with contracting requirements for primary funders of sexual violence services across the state
  • Support member programs in tracking submission deadlines, eligibility, submission requirements, etc.
  • Track organizational deliverables for existing NJCASA projects to ensure timelines are maintained and programmatic obligations are met
  • Provide technical assistance to member programs and participate in NJCASA’s bi-monthly peer learning exchange aimed at connecting member programs with development partners and resources that will assist them with diversifying their funding
  • Prepare regular programmatic reports to submit to NJCASA’s funders
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grants for NJCASA’s funding sources
  • Collaborate with NJCASA’s programmatic and fiscal teams to ensure resources are available and utilized to meet programmatic needs
  • Prospect new funding opportunities for membership (i.e., across federal, state, corporate, and family foundation sources)
  • Liaise with funding partners at Department of Children and Families, Office of the Attorney General, Department of Justice, etc.)
  • Inform NJCASA’s budget advocacy with perspective of the funding landscape across the state

What You Bring

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with primary funding sources for sexual violence services (i.e., DCF, VOCA, VAWA, etc.)
  • Experience preparing and submitting grants and programmatic reports (i.e., narrative reports, MUSKIE, etc.)
  • Knowledge and skill in programmatic process and outcome evaluation
  • Strong writing and communication skills with thoughtful attention to messaging and language
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of organization and ability to concurrently track timelines of multiple projects and across multiple teams
  • Ability to adjust to multiple short-term and long-term priorities in an ever-changing landscape
  • Motivated, flexible, and creative individual who can work both independently and within a team
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, Sexual Violence Program staff, and other supporters

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate training to diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Understanding of best practice as it relates to trauma-informed, survivor-centered services
  • Experience with researching funding sources and prospecting opportunities

What We Offer

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Robert Baran, Co-Director

 

Location: Hybrid remote/in-person – Employees are permitted to work remotely or in the office located in Trenton, NJ. NJCASA provides employees with virtual options to attend meetings. However occasional events and activities throughout the year will require in-person attendance at NJCASA’s office, member programs, and other event locations throughout New Jersey.

 

Compensation: This is an exempt, full-time (35 hours/week) staff position with a salary range of $83,001-$90,000, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and generous paid time off.
